Salt, Light & Leaven
Three things that have one thing in common
THEY ALL PENETRATE
SALT penetrates, flavors, and preserves meat.
“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men” ( Matthew 5:13 ).
LIGHT penetrates and dispels darkness.
“Ye are the light of the world, A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” ( Matthew 5:14–16).
LEAVEN penetrates bread dough and makes it rise.
“…The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened” ( Matthew 13:33).
IT MEANS THIS:
We are to influence our society with the “GOOD NEWS” about Jesus, who walked this earth and offered an alternative to humanity lacking in real hope.
