Christianity is a Daily Religion – Not Just on Sundays

How Do You View Christianity?

Do you treat it as a one-day-per-week involvement?

Christianity is a total way of life

It is 24 hours a day/7 days a week COMMITMENT.

We Must Take Up Our Cross Daily

Jesus made this very clear in his teaching.

…If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me” (Matthew 16:24). This is a DAILY death to self and sin.

We Must Praise God Daily

The Psalmist made this point very clear.

“…daily shall he be praised…” (Psalm 72:15).  We should praise God because he is worthy of praise and because of the benefits.  “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation” (Psalm 68:19).

"Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say rejoice" (Philippians 4:4).

We Must Study the Word Daily

First century Christians had this habit.

The Bereans realized the importance of daily Bible study.  ” These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so” (Acts 17:11).  The Psalmist tells us how to be a blessed person.  Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, not sitteth in the seat of the scornful.  But his delight is in law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night” (Psalm 1:1).

We Must Pray Daily

Because we can do nothing without Him (John 15:5), we should want to talk to Him daily for our many needs.

The psalmist practiced daily communion with God.  “…For I cry unto thee daily” (Psalm 86:3).  “Lord, I have called daily upon thee” (Psalm 88:9).  Paul told us to “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and “Praying always with all prayer and supplication” (Ephesians 6:18).

We Must Teach Daily

This is THE Priority of our lives.

…Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature…” (Mark 16:15,16).  The disciples of the early church were daily teachers.  “And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ” (Acts 5:42).  There were daily results from their actions.  “…And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved” (Acts 2:47). If we teach daily today, the same results are possible.   As Paul reasoned daily (Acts 17:17; Acts 19:19), we too must reason daily as we teach.  We must defend the faith,  “…be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you…” (1 Peter 3:15), because we desire to see others saved.

We Must Care About the Church Daily

Its members must care for one another. “That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another” (1 Corinthians 12:25).

CHRISTIANITY IS A DAILY RELIGION

Mankind is dependent upon God. He is our creator. It is Him that made us, and not we ourselves. (Psalm 100:3) As a manufacturer knows his product better than anyone else, so God knows His creation.  He knows our strengths and weaknesses and He  has the answers to all our questions.  He helps us to make sense of our lives.

The Lord is our Great Shepherd.

We have to have trust in His care. He leads where he would have us go, feeds us, sees that all our needs are met, protects and provides for us. We need this care every day of every week, not just Sunday.

Apart from God

WE CAN DO NOTHING.    John 15:5
